About the role

My client a leading mining engineering client in the West Coast of Scotland are seeking a mining experienced mechanical fitter for a perm role at their site. Working Mon - Friday 07.00 - 3.30pm with overtime available. Duties involve:- Vehicle and Plant Maintenance Carry out routine servicing, inspections and preventive maintenance on vehicles, mobile plant and equipment according to manufacturer specifications and company schedules where applicable. Diagnose mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic faults using appropriate tools and diagnostic equipment. Perform repairs, adjustments and component replacements to ensure equipment is safe, reliable. 2. Breakdown and Fault Response Respond to equipment breakdowns promptly; assess faults and perform repairs to minimise downtime. Support field breakdowns and recovery when required. 3. Workshop Operations Maintain a clean, organised and safe workshop area. Ensure correct use, storage and maintenance of tools, lifting equipment and workshop machinery. Follow maintenance supervisor/ management and or workshop manager indication for job allocation, work orders, spare parts requests and reporting. 4. Safety and Compliance Work in full compliance with Health & Safety, PUWER, LOLER and other relevant regulations. Complete pre-use checks, risk assessments and permit-to-work requirements as needed. Report any defects, hazards or near misses using company reporting systems. 5. Record Keeping Accurately record maintenance activities, repairs, parts used and time spent in maintenance management systems. Update equipment service logs and inspection sheets to ensure full traceability. 6. Parts and Inventory Identify required spare parts and raise requests through the correct purchasing procedures. Assist with stock control, storage and inventory checks for spare parts and consumables. Continuous Improvement Recommend improvements to maintenance routines, reliability, safety and workshop processes. Stay updated with new tools, repair techniques and equipment technologies. 8. Teamwork and Communication Work collaboratively with supervisors, operators, other mechanics and the H&S team. Communicate clearly about equipment status, urgent issues and required downtime. Provide guidance to apprentices or less experienced technicians when needed
