About the role
Head of Commissioning required to take ownership of its commissioning strategy and lead delivery across operations in London.This is an opportunity for an established commissioning leader, or a Senior Commissioning Manager to take a step into a lead role. You’ll influence projects from early design and pre-construction through testing, validation and handover, ensuring systems are fully validated before witness testing.
The opportunity
Reporting to the Technical and Compliance Director, you’ll set the direction for the commissioning function, strengthen technical standards and support teams across multiple regions. Your decisions will shape how projects are planned, how specialist partners perform and how commissioning risks are resolved. You’ll also work directly with clients, consultants and senior leaders on major and technically complex projects.

Own and develop the companywide commissioning strategy, standards and governance.

Review commissioning programmes, identify critical dependencies and address delivery risks across major projects.

Oversee specialist commissioning subcontractors, holding partners accountable for quality and performance.

Work with design teams to embed commissionability and operational requirements from the earliest project stages.

Align commissioning with M&E compliance requirements, audit processes and sign-off criteria.

Lead client discussions and resolve senior commissioning escalations through validation and handover.

Support tenders and pre-construction planning with commissioning strategies, technical advice and risk assessments.

Develop Commissioning Managers, Engineers and trainees through structured training and clear progression pathways.
We’re looking for someone who combines technical judgement with the ability to lead people, manage competing project demands and build confidence with senior clients.
Your experience should include:

Leading commissioning managers, engineers and specialist partners.
*
MEP design reviews, commissioning standards and system validation.
*
Programme leadership, risk management and performance reporting.
*
Coordinating commissioning activity across projects, regions and disciplines.
You’ll have ownership of the commissioning function, direct access to senior technical leadership and the scope to improve delivery across the business. It’s a role for someone who wants to influence engineering decisions and build the capability of a wider team.
