About the role
Design Engineer | Norwich | Competitive Salary
My client is offering a Design Engineer the chance to see their 3D models become striking, high-profile architectural metalwork and structural steel installations.
This is a role built for growth, with real investment in your professional development and a clear path to build your career in design engineering.
As their new Design Engineer, you’ll bring bespoke projects to life from concept through to completion, using SolidWorks to create 3D models, fabrication drawings and assembly details that go straight onto the workshop floor. You’ll work alongside experienced senior draughtsmen and collaborate closely with production, commercial and site teams, so you’ll see first-hand how your designs are manufactured and installed, and have a genuine voice in design reviews.
This opportunity would suit someone confident in SolidWorks who enjoys turning ideas into accurate, manufacturable technical drawings. A background in architectural metalwork, structural steelwork or metal fabrication will help you hit the ground running, and if you bring both SolidWorks and metalwork experience, you’ll be right at home.
Your qualifications and experience will be put to great use here, including:
A qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Structural Engineering or a related field (or an equivalent educational background)
Experience creating 3D models, assemblies and technical drawings in SolidWorks
An understanding of engineering principles and basic structural analysis
Familiarity with the materials and manufacturing processes used in architectural metalwork and structural steel
A sharp eye for detail and the ability to produce accurate technical documentation
Clear communication, strong teamwork and good time management in a fast-paced environment
Experience with AutoCAD or other design software, or knowledge of welding, sheet metal and fabrication techniques, would be a welcome bonus
Here’s what’s in it for you:
A competitive salary dependant on experience, plus a strong benefits package
Consistent hours of 8am – 5pm, Monday to Friday, giving you a healthy work-life balance with your evenings and weekends free
Genuine professional development and career progression as a SolidWorks Design Engineer
Innovative, high-profile projects that you’ll be proud to point to
My client is a leading designer and manufacturer of architectural metalwork and structural steel, delivering custom solutions across the construction industry, from decorative architectural features to complex structural elements. Their culture is built on craftsmanship, quality and continuous learning, and their supportive, experienced team takes real pride in precision engineering. It’s a business where your ideas are valued, your skills are nurtured and your work is visible in the finished build.
