Head of Finance

Interim Head of Finance Location: Wimborne Contract Length: Minimum 6 months Day Rate: £500 - £650 Overview An opportunity for an experienced Interim Head of Finance to join a well-established business based in Wimborne. This role has been created to provide leadership, stability and continuity whilst the business goes through a period of change. The successful candidate will take ownership of the day-to-day finance function, ensuring a smooth month-end process, supporting the wider finance team and driving improvements across finance operations following a period of change within the team. This is a hands-on leadership role rather than a heavily strategic position, requiring someone comfortable rolling up their sleeves and getting involved in the detail when needed. Key Responsibilities Lead and support the finance team across AP, AR, Project Accounting and Management Accounts. Own the month-end, quarter-end and year-end close processes. Review and approve journals, reconciliations and month-end reporting. Manage the annual budgeting process and monthly forecasting cycles. Analyse actual performance against forecast and budget, identifying risks and opportunities. Oversee payroll approval. Support the preparation and management of the rolling 15-month forecast. Review existing finance processes and implement improvements where appropriate. Provide leadership, stability and direction to the finance team during an interim period. Ensure robust financial controls and reporting standards are maintained. Candidate Profile Experienced Head of Finance, Financial Controller or Finance Director level contractor. Strong track record of managing month-end and financial reporting processes. Comfortable operating in a hands-on environment and getting involved in the detail. Proven experience stabilising teams and improving finance functions during periods of change. Strong business improvement and process improvement experience. Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent). Candidates must be from from a project-based environment. If you are interested, apply today
