Senior Buyer

Nelson Permanent placements are looking for an experienced and commercially focused Senior Buyer to join a busy Procurement and Supply Chain team. This role will take responsibility for strategic sourcing, supplier management, and purchasing activities across key product categories, with a primary focus on lighting products. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring cost-effective purchasing, continuity of supply, and strong supplier performance while supporting business growth and operational efficiency. To be considered for this role as a Senior Buyer you will have: * Strong experience in sourcing, procurement, buying, or category management * Experience negotiating supplier agreements and commercial terms * Good understanding of supply chain, logistics, and demand planning * Experience using ERP or MRP systems, advanced Excel and analytical skills * Strong commercial awareness and understanding of cost drivers * Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills * Ability to manage multiple suppliers, projects, and priorities * CIPS qualification achieved or working towards is desirable, Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Procurement, or a related field. The key responsibilities of this role as a Senior Buyer are: * Lead sourcing and procurement activities for products for resale * Develop and implement category and sourcing strategies * Negotiate pricing, contracts, and supply agreements * Build and maintain strong supplier relationships * Monitor supplier performance and service levels * Identify and deliver cost-saving opportunities * Monitor market trends, pricing changes, and supply risks * Manage purchasing projects, tenders, and supplier onboarding * Work closely with supply chain and inventory teams to maintain stock availability * Produce procurement reports and KPI information * Support resolution of supply and quality issues * Drive continuous improvement across procurement processes * Ensure compliance with company policies and supplier audit requirements The employment package for a Senior Buyer is: * Salary of £38,000 – 4£2,000, 37.5 hours Monday – Friday * Tamworth based * Company pension scheme * Holiday entitlement * Career development and progression opportunities * Support towards professional qualifications * Friendly and supportive working environment * Opportunity to work within a growing procurement and supply chain team How to Apply: This vacancy is being advertised on behalf of Nelson Permanent Placements Ltd.
