Job Description: HLTA – PPA Cover Hours: Full-time, full academic year Location: Lewisham Start Date: Wednesday 30th September Create Education are working with a beautiful 3-form-entry primary school in Lewisham, who are looking for a confident, adaptable and enthusiastic Higher Level Teaching Assistant to join them from September. This is a fantastic school with wonderful staff, a great atmosphere and a welcoming, supportive environment. They are looking for an experienced HLTA who enjoys delivering lessons, leading classes and supporting pupils across the primary age range. The role will focus on providing PPA cover, delivering teacher-planned lessons and ensuring pupils continue to make progress while class teachers are released for planning, preparation and assessment time. The school is looking for a reliable and engaging HLTA who can confidently step into different classrooms, maintain strong routines, build positive relationships quickly and create a calm, purposeful learning environment. Key Responsibilities PPA Cover & Lesson Delivery You will deliver lessons across different year groups, ensuring pupils remain engaged, focused and on task. You will be confident leading a whole class, following teacher planning and adapting your approach where needed to support individual pupils and groups. Supporting Learning Across the School You will work across the primary age range, supporting pupils with their learning and helping them access the curriculum. This may include whole-class teaching, small-group support, interventions and helping pupils develop confidence, independence and positive learning habits. Classroom & Behaviour Management You will maintain clear routines and expectations in line with school policy, using positive behaviour strategies to support engagement and focus. The schools are looking for someone who can provide consistency, structure and a calm presence when covering classes. Teamwork & Communication You will work closely with class teachers, year group teams and senior leaders to ensure smooth handovers and effective lesson delivery. You will provide feedback on pupil engagement, progress and behaviour after cover sessions and support the wider school day where needed. Safeguarding & Wellbeing You will prioritise the safety and wellbeing of all pupils, following safeguarding, child protection and health and safety procedures at all times. You will help create an inclusive environment where all children feel supported, valued and ready to learn.
