Clerk of Works / Senior Clerk of Works 💷 £50,000 – £55,000 🏠 Norfolk / Suffolk - Site / home-based role ⏱️ 35-hour working week 📅 October 2026 💼 Permanent Know the difference between a job that looks right and one that’s actually been built right? We are working with an established, highly regarded multidisciplinary construction consultancy looking to appoint an experienced Clerk of Works / Senior Clerk of Works to join its team. What You'll Be Doing You'll be responsible for: Undertaking regular inspections of construction projects Monitoring progress, workmanship and quality Identifying defects, discrepancies and areas of non-compliance Producing clear, professional site inspection reports Managing defect trackers and proactively following up outstanding issues Undertaking snagging, de-snagging and end-of-defects-liability inspections Checking works against contractual drawings, employers' requirements, warranty standards and Building Regulations Maintaining accurate project records and working within established QA proceduresWho Are We Looking For? You'll need a strong understanding of building construction and the confidence to recognise when something isn't right. Importantly, you must be a member of either the Institute of Clerks of Works and Construction Inspectorate (ICWCI) or Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB). You don't necessarily need to have progressed to full Member grade. You'll also need: Excellent knowledge of building construction processes Knowledge of standard construction contracts, including JCT and NEC Experience with tablet-based inspection software such as Field View or PlanRadar Strong written reporting and communication skills Good organisation and time management Full UK driving licenceThe Opportunity This role would particularly suit someone who has developed strong technical knowledge through Clerk of Works, Site Management, Construction Management or Building Inspection and now enjoys concentrating on the thing that ultimately matters – the quality of what's actually being built.
