Assistant Design Manager

Romford / Essex50,000-65,000 + PackageWe’re recruiting an Assistant Design Manager for a growing M&E contractor, with a clear progression route into a full Design Manager position.The role will support the design and delivery of mechanical and electrical building services projects from concept through to construction, working closely with Design Managers, Project Managers, QSs, site teams and external consultants.The RoleSupport the development of coordinated M&E designsProduce and amend mechanical and electrical drawings using CAD/BIMAssist with HVAC, ventilation, heating, plumbing, drainage, lighting, power and containment layoutsSupport design calculations, equipment selections and technical schedulesReview drawings for clashes, discrepancies and design issuesAttend design and coordination meetingsLiaise with Project Managers, consultants, subcontractors and suppliersSupport RFIs and technical queriesAssist with site surveys and construction-stage design issuesMaintain drawing standards, revisions and document controlEnsure designs comply with project specifications, Building Regulations and relevant standardsThe CandidateExperience or qualification in Building Services, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or MEPGood understanding of M&E building servicesAble to read and understand technical drawingsCAD/BIM experienceStrong attention to detailGood communication and organisationKeen to develop into a Design ManagerComfortable working across both mechanical and electrical disciplinesPackage50,000-65,000 basicPensionCompany benefitsOngoing technical trainingExposure to live M&E projectsClear progression into Design ManagementThe OpportunityThis role is specifically suited to someone ready to move beyond a pure Design Assistant / Design Engineer position and start taking more responsibility for design coordination, meetings, project delivery and stakeholder management.The long-term route is clear:Assistant Design Manager Design Manager Senior Design ManagerIt’s an excellent opportunity to learn directly from an experienced Design Manager while gradually taking ownership of your own projects.WR HVAC | M&E are the #1 recruitment partner for HVAC and M&E vacancies across the UK, Europe, and the USA.
