About the Role We are looking for an experienced
Procurement Officer
to join during a period of transition and provide hands-on support across the procurement and contract management function.
This is an operational procurement role, suited to someone who is comfortable getting involved in the detail and managing procurement activity from initial requirements through to contract award. You will support ongoing procurement activity, supplier due diligence, contract administration and governance, ensuring business-critical activity continues smoothly.
The role sits within a highly regulated financial services environment, with strong links to the public sector through Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS) structure.
This client is one of the largest pension pools in the UK and is an FCA-regulated investment company responsible for managing assets on behalf of Local Government Pension Scheme customers and shareholders. The procurement and contract management function provides oversight across the procurement lifecycle, supporting the organisation in procuring, managing and overseeing third-party services.
Key Responsibilities Deliver day-to-day procurement and contract management activity across the organisation. Support end-to-end procurement processes, from initial requirements through to supplier selection and contract award. Support public sector framework procurements and ensure processes comply with relevant procurement requirements. Apply knowledge of the
Procurement Act 2023
and public sector procurement rules. Support contract owners with new procurements and contract renewals. Manage contract administration, including maintaining the Contract Register and Contract Finder. Complete and support supplier due diligence and escalate compliance issues where required. Work with stakeholders and business sponsors to ensure procurement processes are followed effectively. Support supplier and contract governance activities. Provide wider support to the Procurement and Contract Management function as required. Identify and manage procurement and supplier risks within your area of responsibility.
About You We are looking for a
hands-on procurement professional
who can operate confidently in a lean team and take ownership of day-to-day procurement activity.
Essential Experience Proven experience working in a
Procurement Officer, Procurement Specialist, Procurement Advisor or similar hands-on procurement role . Strong practical experience across procurement and contract management processes. Experience managing procurement activity through to contract award. Knowledge of
public sector procurement and the Procurement Act 2023 . Experience with supplier due diligence, contract administration and procurement governance. Strong stakeholder management and communication skills. Able to work autonomously, manage multiple priorities and deliver to deadlines.
Desirable Experience Previous experience within
Financial Services
or another highly regulated environment. Experience within the
public sector , particularly local government or related organisations. Experience working with procurement frameworks. Knowledge of pension, investment or LGPS environments. Experience with procurement portals, Contract Finder or contract management systems. Strong MS365 skills, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.
The Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate will be an operational, delivery-focused procurement professional rather than a senior strategic procurement leader. You will be comfortable working hands-on, managing the detail of procurement processes while confidently engaging with stakeholders across the organisation. Must have experiance with
Procurement Act 2023 . Public sector procurement experience is highly desirable, with Financial Services experience also strongly welcomed.
