Instrument Technician (6-Month Contract)
Waste-to-Energy Project | Bristol (BS10)
Start Monday: £30 - £35 per hour (CIS/Ltd, depending on experience)
Must live locally due to call out / standy rota 1 week per month
Work for a leading engineering and industrial services contractor delivering works on a major Waste-to-Energy facility in Bristol.
We are looking for an experienced Instrument Technician to join the project on an initial 6-month assignment, supporting installation, commissioning, calibration and maintenance activities across critical plant instrumentation and control systems.
This is an excellent opportunity to work on a high-profile energy infrastructure project within a modern process plant environment.
Working Pattern
* Monday to Friday
* Typical 9-10 hour working day
* 1 week per month on-call / standby rota
* Long-term contract potential for strong performers
Duties
* Installation and commissioning of instrumentation equipment
* Calibration of pressure, flow, temperature and level instruments
* Loop checking and functional testing
* Fault finding on instrumentation and control systems
* Supporting commissioning and plant start-up activities
* Reading and interpreting P&IDs, loop drawings and schematics
* Assisting with planned maintenance and shutdown activities
* Ensuring all work is carried out safely and in line with site procedures
Requirements
* Previous experience as an Instrument Technician within an industrial environment
* Strong instrumentation, calibration and commissioning experience
* Experience working on power generation, energy-from-waste, biomass, petrochemical, chemical, water treatment or process plant projects
* Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and control documentation
* Familiarity with PLC-controlled systems and industrial process equipment
* Relevant electrical or instrumentation qualifications
Desirable
* ECS Card
* CCNSG Safety Passport
* Previous commissioning experience on large industrial projects
