Teacher - Community Learning (Adults) (Fixed Term, Part Time), Leeds
About the role
Leeds City College are recruiting for a Community Learning Teacher to join our team.
This role is part time 18.5 hours per week and fixed term until July 2027. The pro rata salary commences at 15,958 with progression to 17,956 per annum.
This role sits within the Adult, Community and ESOL department and is based in a variety of community settings across Leeds.
We are looking for a candidate with the following skills and experience:
- Ability to lead and facilitate group activities, fostering positive group dynamics, managing conflict, and promoting teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication skills, with strong interpersonal skills to build rapport, motivate, and empower adults who are returning to education from a variety of backgrounds.
- Must possess empathy and understanding for the unique challenges faced by asylum seekers, refugees and unemployed.
- Experience working with diverse groups including multi-level classes whilst promoting inclusion and sensitivity to individual backgrounds and cultures.
- Experience working with the community, particularly with those facing barriers like unemployment or underachievement.
- Plan, prepare and develop schemes of work, session plans, teaching and learning resources, learning and assessment plans.
Teach across the Adult Community provision. This could involve ESOL, low level maths and basic digital skills.
Work with the Community team to develop and share resources to support learners' progression.
- Create individual learning targets linked to learner study programmes/courses.
- Monitor students to achieve their targets and develop their skills to enable progression through RARPA.
Hold a L5 Teaching Qualification (e.g. Cert Ed, PGCE, Delta). Celta is not recognised in the UK as a full teaching qualification, but successful applicants can be supported to complete a L5 Teaching Qualification with the college with department financial support.
Have UK based experience, teaching adult students in colleges or community in the UK.
