Operating within a multidisciplinary MEICA (Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation, Control, and Automation) environment, you’ll drive technical excellence across the entire project lifecycle—from initial concept to final testing and commissioning.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Leadership & Design Excellence
- Lead the design of LV power distribution, earthing/bonding, lightning protection, UPS, and intelligent lighting systems.
- Prepare, review, and approve critical engineering deliverables: load assessments, cable sizing, protection studies, and design reports.
- Guide, mentor, and develop Graduate Engineers and Design Technicians.
Integration & Assurance
- Coordinate designs seamlessly across mechanical, civil, structural, and architectural disciplines.
- Ensure absolute compliance with HS2 Technical Standards, BS 7671, CDM Regulations 2015, and BIM processes.
- Participate in interdisciplinary design reviews (IDC/IDR) and champion safe-by-design principles.
Site Support & Commissioning
- Oversee supplier technical submissions and support equipment procurement.
- Attend Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) and Site Acceptance Tests (SAT), providing engineering support straight through to final project handover.
What We Are Looking For
Essential Criteria
- Education: Degree in Electrical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Experience: 5–10 years of electrical design experience within rail, infrastructure, utilities, or building services.
- Technical Grip: Mastery of LV distribution, power quality, earthing/bonding, and engineering assurance frameworks.
- Soft Skills: Exceptional stakeholder management skills and a natural ability to lead work packages.
Desirable Extras (The Cherries on Top)
- Prior experience on HS2, Network Rail, London Underground, or Crossrail.
- Chartered (CEng) or Incorporated (IEng) status (or actively tracking toward it).
- Hands-on experience with industry software: Amtech/Trimble ProDesign, ETAP, Dialux, Revit MEP, or Navisworks.
