Job ref: Location: Nottingham, Nottinghamshire, EnglandContract: PermanentSalary: 65,000 - 70,000 per yearSector: ("Building", "Construction and Infrastructure")Posted: Consultant: Chris Quinlan ApplyHealth and Safety Manager - Nottingham - civil engineering/highways projects - 65k-75k+packageWe are seeking an experienced Health, Safety, Environment, Quality, and Wellbeing Manager to lead our team of Health and Safety Advisors and drive our safety strategy.In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining and continually improving our ISO 45001 Safety Management System while developing key safety initiatives. As a champion for our zero-harm culture, you will play a pivotal role in shaping our safety environment to ensure we consistently exceed legal, client, and company standards.Roles & Responsibilities:Lead a positive and mature health and safety culture, developing a Zero Harm mindset across the business and planning/managing company safety stand downs.Develop, review, and own the company safety policies and strategy, monitoring and reviewing their effectiveness.Manage Health and Safety department resource levels and budgets. Mentor, coach, and conduct PDPs/regular reviews with HSEQW Advisors.Approve Advisor timesheets and leave requests, conduct return-to-work interviews, and review site Safety Audits to standardise approaches and findings.Notify HSE of F10 and RIDDOR incidents. Document, monitor, and report safety performance and trends to the SLT, Head of Compliance, and Clients.Conduct internal audits per the schedule, support external management system audits, and maintain vital company safety accreditations.Report incidents to the SLT, assign resource to investigations, and review, challenge, and approve investigation findings. Represent the company with external stakeholders regarding incident progress and findings.Ensure Safe System of Work documentation templates are developed, maintained, and improved.Attend client/customer meetings and develop strong working relationships with Client and Industry HSEQW representatives.Manage contracts for building facility services, maintain facility records, and actively monitor for/report signs of modern slavery in the supply chain.Support the resolution of Occupational Health findings and participate in company social value opportunities.Essential criteriaStrong leadership and coaching skills, with the confidence to challenge delivery teams, Advisors, subcontractors, clients, and the Senior Leadership Team when safety issues are identified.An excellent communicator capable of establishing effective networks both internally and externally, delivering quarterly presentations.A proactive approach to promoting continual HSEQW improvement opportunities, sharing safety learning across the company and wider industry.A dedication to maintaining personal CPD through the use of resources and staying ahead of industry technological advancements.High level of computer literacy, with the ability to produce detailed word reports, compile excel data captures, and build professional presentation slides.Eperience in a safety leadership role within Highways / Civil engineering.NEBOSH Construction Certificate.CSCS Black Card (Site Manager) or equivalent.UK Driving Licence.
