General Foreman

Abatec is assisting a leading civil engineering contractor in the appointment of an experienced General Foreman to support their expanding workload across the South West Water framework.

With over £100 million worth of secured work guaranteed, and further projects in the pipeline, this is an excellent opportunity to join an established delivery team offering long-term job security and a consistent workload across the South West.

The projects cover a broad range of civil engineering activities, including wastewater schemes, trunk mains, water infrastructure and associated heavy civils works.

The successful candidate will take responsibility for the day-to-day supervision of site operations, coordinating direct labour, subcontractors, plant and materials to ensure works are delivered safely, efficiently and to programme.

Key Responsibilities

* Overseeing daily site operations across water and wastewater civils projects.

* Supervising and coordinating site teams, including Foremen, Gangers and operatives.

* Managing labour, plant, materials and subcontractors.

* Ensuring works are delivered in accordance with programme and specifications.

* Briefing teams on RAMS, construction methods and daily activities.

* Monitoring productivity, quality and overall site performance.

* Maintaining high standards of health, safety and environmental compliance.

* Liaising with Site Agents, Engineers and Project Managers to coordinate upcoming works.

* Identifying potential issues on site and implementing practical solutions.

* Ensuring accurate site records, daily diaries and progress reports are maintained.

About You

* Previous experience working as a General Foreman

* Strong background in water, wastewater, utilities, or heavy civil engineering projects.

* Confident managing direct labour and subcontractor teams.

* Good understanding of construction programmes, RAMS and health and safety requirements.

* A hands-on approach with the ability to drive productivity and maintain high standards.

* SMSTS, SSSTS and relevant construction qualifications would be advantageous.
