Chief Executive, Whipps Cross Hospital
Barts Health NHS Trust is seeking a visionary leader to head Whipps Cross Hospital, a major acute hospital in east London. As a member of the Group Executive and Trust Board, you will shape the wider strategy of Barts Health while steering Whipps Cross through a period of significant opportunity and change.
About the Role
The Chief Executive will be responsible for delivering safe, high‑quality and efficient services, building a strong, inclusive culture, and leading both operational improvement and long‑term transformation. Key activities include driving the Whipps Cross redevelopment programme, partnering with local authorities and community partners, and representing the Trust externally.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the delivery of safe, high‑quality, efficient services at Whipps Cross Hospital.
- Champion operational improvement and long‑term transformation across all functions.
- Drive the redevelopment programme that will enhance facilities, pathways and patient experience.
- Build an inclusive culture that empowers multidisciplinary teams and promotes patient‑centred care.
- Collaborate with local authorities, the integrated care system and community partners to improve health outcomes and tackle inequalities.
- Represent the Trust externally, bringing people together to achieve meaningful change at scale.
Qualifications and Experience
- Demonstrated strategic and operational leadership in a complex healthcare environment.
- Proven track record of driving improvement and transformation.
- Strong ability to build inclusive cultures and inspire multidisciplinary teams.
- Credibility to operate at Board level within a large organisational setting.
- Values‑led approach with ambition to drive change at scale.
