About the role

Hays are partnering with a Secondary School in Rochdale who are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Pastoral Manager to support students' wellbeing, behaviour and attendance across the school on a temporary basis This is a rewarding and fast-paced role, supporting students' behaviour, wellbeing, safeguarding and attendance across the school, including managing incidents, working closely with families and staff, and providing targeted support for pupils with additional needs, making it ideal for someone who is calm, resilient and passionate about helping young people succeed. We're looking for someone with experience supporting attendance, behaviour or SEMH needs in children and young people (pastoral management experience is not essential!). We are able to consider candidates from a variety of backgrounds, so this is a great opportunity for someone looking to gain experience in pastoral management. Location: Rochdale, OL16 Rate: Hourly Rate Equivalent to £32,061 - £35,412 Start Date: 8th June Hours: Full-time | Temporary until end of Academic Year, possible September extension What You'll Be Doing Provide day-to-day pastoral support for pupils, focusing on emotional wellbeing, behaviour and engagement Support students experiencing difficulties, including those who are distressed or at risk of exclusion Investigate and manage behaviour incidents, including bullying and safeguarding concerns Monitor and promote attendance and punctuality, working closely with staff and families Build strong relationships with parents, carers and external agencies Lead or support TAF/CIN meetings and multi-agency interventions Maintain accurate records of pupil support, interventions and outcomes Work closely with Heads of Year and SLT to support whole-school pastoral priorities Support students in lessons and around school to encourage positive behaviour and engagement What We're Looking For We are looking for someone who: Has experience working with children, young people and families (school-based and pastoral experience is not essential!) A background in pastoral support, youth/social work, mental health support, Teaching/TA in SEMH/PRU environments, behaviour support, residential care, attendance, family liaison, safeguarding or other similar A strong interest in making a difference to the lives of pupils Can confidently support pupils with challenging behaviour or barriers to learning Has strong communication and relationship-building skills Is highly organised and able to manage a busy workload Understands safeguarding procedures and child protection responsibilities Is calm, resilient and able to work effectively under pressure Why Hays?
