Chief Legal Advisor

London Local Authority

Locum Contract

£70 - £75 p/h (Umbrella) dependant on experience

Sellick Partnership are delighted to be working with a well-established local authority in London in their search for Chief Legal Advisor to join their team on a locum contract. This role requires someone who can work full-time and attend the office as much as possible (ideally around 2-3 days per week).

The responsibilities of the successful Chief Legal Advisor will be to:

• Working alongside the two other Chief Legal Advisors to manage the shared legal practice
• Manage a busy team with diverse legal specialisms
• Advise senior client officers and elected members
• Supporting and deputising for a Monitoring Officer for any of the boroughs
• Directly reporting into the Assistant Director of Legal and Governance and Director of Legal and Governance
• Motivate and help develop the team

Our client is seeking a Chief Legal Advisor who:

• Holds a current practicing certificate (Barrister, Solicitor or CILEx)
• Experience from a local authority is advantageous, you must be a strong manager with knowledge of public sector governance
• The ability to work at pace and juggle competing priorities
• Dealt with governance matters previously
• Can attend the offices as and when necessary (usually around 2 - 3 days per week), as well as attending client meetings/committees as required
