Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Superintendent to oversee the installation, supervision, and delivery of mechanical works on industrial engineering projects. The successful candidate will have a strong background in boiler installation, mechanical construction, and site supervision, with the ability to lead teams and ensure works are delivered safely, efficiently, and to the required quality standards.
This role will be responsible for coordinating mechanical installation activities, supervising subcontractors and site personnel, and ensuring that boiler systems and associated mechanical equipment are installed, tested, and commissioned in accordance with project specifications.
Key Responsibilities
* Supervise and coordinate mechanical installation activities across industrial project sites.
* Oversee boiler installation, including positioning, assembly, pipework connections, ancillary equipment, and associated mechanical systems.
* Manage the installation of boiler house equipment, pumps, valves, pipework, pressure systems, and mechanical services.
* Ensure all works are carried out in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, method statements, and project programmes.
* Coordinate mechanical subcontractors, installation teams, and specialist vendors.
* Monitor daily progress, productivity, and resource requirements, reporting to the Mechanical Project Manager.
* Liaise with engineering, commissioning, quality, and client teams to resolve technical and installation issues.
* Ensure mechanical installations meet relevant health and safety, quality, and environmental requirements.
* Support inspections, pressure testing, flushing, pre-commissioning, and commissioning activities.
* Review and interpret mechanical drawings, P&IDs, equipment layouts, and installation specifications.
* Maintain accurate site records, progress reports, and installation documentation.
* Identify potential risks, delays, and technical issues, implementing corrective actions where required.
* Ensure materials, tools, and equipment are available to maintain project progress.
* Promote a positive safety culture and ensure compliance with site procedures and permit-to-work systems.
Essential Experience & Qualifications
* Proven experience as a Mechanical Superintendent, Mechanical Supervisor, Mechanical Foreman, or similar senior site-based role.
* Significant experience in industrial boiler installation, boiler houses, or associated mechanical systems.
* Strong knowledge of mechanical installation, pipework, equipment setting, and industrial plant construction.
* Experience supervising mechanical teams and subcontractors on large-scale projects.
* Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, P&IDs, and technical specifications.
* Knowledge of mechanical testing, inspection, and commissioning processes.
* Strong understanding of site health and safety requirements.
* Relevant mechanical engineering qualification or recognised trade background
