The Department of Physics is supported by an experienced professional services team, working in partnership with academic colleagues, as well as faculty and central directorates to provide a high-quality administrative support service and student and staff experience.

We are looking to recruit a temporary Programmes Officer to support the running of our undergraduate and postgraduate programmes over an upcoming peak period. Please note - this is a temporary position and the end date is subject to business needs.
The Programme Officer provides essential support to students and academics working as part of the programmes team to ensure that high quality administrative and student support is provided. The temporary role will support the Education Team with completing key tasks and duties as required in areas of assessment, teaching, planning and student support.
The role will be based at the Strand campus in Central London. Professional services staff are currently working on a hybrid basis, and the role holder will be expected to be available to work on Campus for a minimum of 3 days a week. They will also be expected to attend additional days on campus where needed; including being on standby to provide additional office cover if required. Flexibility and the ability to work on campus up to 5 days a week as requested is therefore essential.
This is a full-time post (35 hours per week). Working hours are 09:00 to 17:00 with a one hour, unpaid lunch break.
Key Responsibilities:
Support with programme administration processes relevant to the area of work, including assessment processes, in line with university deadlines and regulations, and Faculty and external requirements.
Support with day-to-day student enquiries to provide responses as appropriate within agreed timeframes.
Work flexibly as part of a team, supporting others in times of high-volume activity.
Covering staff absence as and when required.
Engage with and triage students' pastoral care needs, resolving straightforward issues where appropriate and escalating to, and informing, key stakeholders as per university frameworks.
Ensure all work is carried out in a professional and timely manner, with appropriate confidentiality and sensitivity. xwzovoh
Outline of key tasks, including, but not limited to:
Assessment Proof-reading comms and preparing department webpages for publication to students
Supporting with resolving result queries
Preparing for Assessment Sub-Boards
Teaching Responding to and resolving timetabling queries
Supporting and attending events in Welcome Week
Distributing resources and preparing comms for students
Attendance monitoring - supporting with tasks such as sending follow up comms to students and reporting
Liaising with partner college to support administration of intercollegiate programme
Completing credit checks
Processing module amendments
Other Enquiry management ? monitoring student facing inboxes, triaging, escalating and actioning in accordance with SLAs
Providing coverage during annual leave / absences
Office support (3 days minimum per week, requirement to cover annual leave / absences as needed)
Supporting with tasks associated with project administration
Actioning script viewing requests
Archiving exam scripts
Preparing merch bags
Other ad-hoc tasks as they arise
