Production Engineer

Production & Development Engineer Howard James Recruitment is delighted to be recruiting on behalf of an innovative engineering company that designs and manufactures specialist subsea coupling and connector systems for some of the world's leading energy organisations. Due to continued growth and product development, they are looking to appoint a Production & Development Engineer to join their engineering team. The Opportunity This is a fantastic opportunity for a hands-on engineer who enjoys variety and wants to play a key role in taking products from concept through to manufacture, testing and customer delivery. Working closely with the Engineering Manager, you'll split your time between production, testing, research & development and technical improvement projects. No two days are the same, making this an ideal role for someone looking to broaden their engineering experience and develop their career. Key Responsibilities You'll be responsible for: * Building, assembling and testing customer products and systems * Conducting functional testing, fault finding and system verification * Supporting prototype development and R&D projects * Assisting with product development and continuous improvement initiatives * Producing technical reports, assembly procedures and engineering documentation * Working alongside production and engineering teams to solve technical challenges * Providing occasional technical support and commissioning at customer sites * Supporting manufacturing improvements and supplier development activities * Mentoring apprentices where appropriate. About You We're looking for someone who enjoys being hands-on and thrives in a practical engineering environment. You'll ideally have: * ·HNC/HND (or equivalent) in Mechanical, Manufacturing or Electrical Engineering * At least 3 years' engineering experience within a manufacturing or production environment * Strong mechanical assembly, fitting and fault-finding skills * Experience working with hydraulic and pneumatic systems * Knowledge of hydrostatic and gas pressure testing * Practical machining experience using manual lathes and milling machines * Excellent problem-solving ability and attention to detail * Strong communication and technical documentation skills * Full UK Driving Licence * UK Passport and willingness to travel internationally on occasion. Desirable Experience Experience in any of the following would be advantageous: * Product development or R&D * Welding and fabrication * Offshore certification (BOSIET/MIST) * CAD or drafting experience * Project planning or project management.
