Salary: £70,000 £90,000 + 10% annual bonus + £7,000 tax-free DV Bonus every year you hold
Working Pattern: Full-time, Hybrid (minimum 3 days onsite)

Overview
A leading digital and cyber consultancy within the defence and national security sector is seeking a FinOps Specialist to drive cloud cost optimisation and efficiency across large-scale AWS environments.
With major cloud migration programmes underway, this is a high-impact role influencing architecture, shaping strategy, and unlocking tangible value for mission-critical programmes.
The Role
You will operate at both strategic and technical levels, advising a large business unit on maximising value from AWS investments.
Key responsibilities:
- Apply FinOps principles to improve cloud efficiency and cost transparency
- Advise architects and engineering teams to embed cost optimisation from day one
- Shape FinOps strategies for cloud migration programmes
- Influence architectural decisions with a cost and scalability lens
- Build data-driven business cases for optimisation initiatives
- Engage senior stakeholders to align cloud spend with business objectives
- Promote FinOps best practice across technical teams and leadership
- Guide teams on AWS pricing models and cost management tools
This is a hands-on advisory role, championing FinOps across both technical and business functions.
Required Skills & Experience
- Proven experience applying FinOps principles in complex, large-scale cloud environments
- Deep expertise in AWS services, pricing models, and cost optimisation tools
- Experience embedding cost efficiency into cloud architecture and engineering practices
- Strong stakeholder engagement and influencing skills, including senior leadership
- Experience building robust, data-backed business cases
- Excellent communication with technical and non-technical audiences
Desirable:
- Experience in government, defence, or regulated environments
- Exposure to large-scale cloud migration programmes
- Experience developing and marketing FinOps offerings or advisory services
