About the role

Are you a food safety expert looking for an opportunity to influence standards on a global scale? This is an exciting opportunity to join a leading international business, working within the Technical and Sustainability team to drive food safety excellence across multiple markets. Operating in a hybrid capacity from London, you'll play a key role in shaping global policies, managing surveillance programmes, and ensuring robust standards are maintained across both company-owned and franchise operations. This position would suit someone with a strong scientific background and a passion for translating complex food safety requirements into practical, business-wide solutions. You will be responsible for, but not limited to: • Leading the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of global food safety standards and policies • Ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and internal food safety procedures across international markets • Managing microbiological, allergen, and wider surveillance programmes, ensuring risks are identified and addressed effectively • Supporting the investigation and resolution of food safety incidents, recalls, and regulatory challenges through robust root cause analysis and corrective actions • Overseeing food safety audit programmes and ensuring timely closure of non-conformances • Monitoring food safety KPIs, identifying trends, and driving continuous improvement initiatives • Ensuring consistent food safety performance across both company-owned and franchised operations • Supporting the development and delivery of food safety training programmes across the business • Working closely with technical, safety, and compliance teams to maintain audit readiness and effective due diligence systems • Keeping abreast of changes in legislation, emerging risks, and industry best practice to support business compliance • Building strong external networks and maintaining engagement with industry groups and regulatory bodies • Ensuring all food safety processes and documentation are maintained to the highest standards What's required? • Degree qualified in Environmental Health, Food Science, Microbiology, or a related discipline • Strong understanding of food safety legislation, microbiological risks, contamination control, and food hygiene principles • Experience managing food safety systems within a multi-site, retail, foodservice, or manufacturing environment • Familiarity with microbiological, allergen, and chemical surveillance testing programmes • Ability to assess and manage food safety risks across complex operations • Advanced food safety qualification, with HACCP Level 4 being highly desirable • Strong root cause analysis and corrective action experience • Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders • Ability to simplify complex technical requirements for non-technical audiences • Experience working with, or alongside, regulatory bodies would be advantageous • A proactive mindset and a passion for driving continuous improvement and best practice What's in it for you?
