Contentious Probate Solicitor - Hybrid - 4+ PQE - Cambridge/Peterborough £55,000-75,000 + DOE
About the role
An award-winning and highly regarded law firm is looking to appoint an experienced Contentious ProbateLawyer to join its growing specialist team, with flexibility to be based in either Peterborough or Cambridge.
This is an excellent opportunity for a contentious probate lawyer to join a recognised practice advising individuals on a wide range of complex disputes, including claims involving significant estates, family relationships and intricate legal issues.
The role
You'll handle a varied caseload of contentious trusts and probate matters, acting for clients bringing and defending claims. Work will include:
- Inheritance Act claims
- Will challenges, including capacity and knowledge and approval
- Trust, executor and trustee disputes
- Claims involving construction and rectification of wills
- Proprietary estoppel claims
- Court of Protection disputes
- Care fee disputes
You'll work collaboratively with colleagues across the department, manage your own matters and contribute to the continued development of the team. There will also be opportunities to build client relationships, develop professional networks and take part in business development initiatives.
The team also has an international reach, offering exposure to cross-border disputes involving European elements.
About you
The firm is ideally looking for a lawyer with around 4+ years' PQE and a strong understanding of contentious trusts and probate law. However, applications from less experienced candidates with a clear interest and aptitude in this area will also be considered.
You'll be technically capable, organised and proactive, with strong communication skills and the confidence to build effective relationships with clients and colleagues. The ability to manage your workload effectively, exercise sound judgement and deliver practical, commercially focused advice will be important.
