About the role

Fire Engineer (Design Focused) Location: London and Surrounding Salary: Up to £70,000 (DOE) Working Pattern: Hybrid with site visits We’re working with a growing fire engineering consultancy that is building out its technical team and looking for a Fire Engineer with clear design experience. This is not a fire risk or compliance-led role. It is focused on developing fire strategies, supporting design teams, and applying engineering judgement across projects. The Role You’ll work across the full project lifecycle, from concept through to construction, contributing to both standard and more complex schemes. • Develop fire strategies using design guidance and engineering principles • Provide technical input across concept, planning, and detailed design • Support Gateway and regulatory approval processes • Produce clear, well-structured technical reports • Carry out site visits to assess design implementation • Work closely with architects, consultants, and approval bodies • Contribute to performance-based or more complex design solutions where required What They’re Looking For • Degree in Fire Engineering or closely related discipline • Proven experience producing fire strategies in a design environment • Strong understanding of Building Regulations and Approved Document B • Comfortable working with design teams on live projects • Able to explain and defend technical decisions Nice to have: • Exposure to performance-based design or modelling tools • PAS 9980 or remediation experience • Progress toward professional membership The Reality If your background is mainly FRA or compliance, this isn’t the right role.
