Job Title: Charity Shop Manager
Location: Bangor, Northern Ireland

Salary: £33,500 DOE
Job Overview
We are seeking a motivated and organised Charity Shop Manager to oversee the daily operations of our retail shop. This role is responsible for maximising sales, managing volunteers, and ensuring the shop provides a welcoming and positive experience for customers while supporting the charity’s mission.
Key Responsibilities
* Oversee the day-to-day running of the shop, ensuring it is clean, safe, and well-presented
* Manage stock donations, including sorting, pricing, and displaying items effectively
* Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and retail standards
* Handle cash, operate the till, and complete daily financial reconciliations
Sales & Performance
* Maximise income through effective merchandising and pricing strategies
* Monitor sales performance and implement improvements where needed
* Organise promotions, seasonal displays, and special sales events
Volunteer Management
* Recruit, train, and support a team of volunteers
* Create staff/volunteer rotas to ensure adequate shop coverage
* Foster a positive, inclusive, and motivating team environment
Customer Service
* Deliver excellent customer service and ensure a welcoming atmosphere
* Handle customer enquiries, complaints, and feedback professionally
Administration
* Maintain accurate records of sales, donations, and Gift Aid (if applicable)
* Liaise with the charity’s head office or regional management
* Ensure proper documentation and reporting procedures are followed
Essential Skills & Experience
* Previous experience in retail, customer service, or a supervisory role
* Strong organisational and time management skills
* Ability to lead and motivate a team, including volunteers
* Good communication and interpersonal skills
* Basic numeracy and IT skills
Desirable
* Experience working or volunteering in the charity sector
* Knowledge of visual merchandising
* Experience managing stock or donations
