CNC Sliding Head Setter / Operator – Rugby

People Solutions in Rugby are currently recruiting for a CNC Sliding Head Setter / Operator to join our well-established client based in Rugby.

Our client is seeking an experienced CNC Sliding Head Setter / Operator to support the continuous production of small precision components within a high-quality manufacturing environment.

This position is ideal for applicants looking for a role as a CNC Sliding Head Programmer/Setter, CNC Turner (Sliding Head) or Swiss-Type CNC Setter.

Shift Pattern:

  •  Monday – Thursday

  •  Overtime available on Saturdays

Rate of Pay:

  •  Starting rate of £15.87 per hour (depending on experience)

Day to Day Duties:

As a CNC Sliding Head Setter / Operator, your duties will include (but are not limited to):

  •  Carrying out complete CNC machine tool set-ups in line with process and tooling layouts (Sliding Head Turning)
  •  Producing ‘First Off' components to issued drawings and ensuring process safety for production runs
  •  Pre-production kitting including tooling preparation, machine ancillaries, and NC programs
  •  Post-production tooling inspection for wear or damage and reporting to Production Manager
  •  Updating tooling and process information following production runs
  •  Inputting daily shift setting and production data into scheduling systems
  •  Updating visual management systems including scrap and setting piece records
  •  Communicating daily setting progress to Section Leader and Production Manager
  •  Operating and managing machines during production runs while maintaining quality standards
  •  Managing tooling offsets, monitoring wear, and escalating issues where required
  •  Completing in-production inspections using first principles methods, shadow graphs, Vici Vision and OGP systems
  •  Monitoring daily production rates and escalating issues when necessary
  •  Engaging with NPI and Continuous Improvement teams to develop robust production strategies
  •  Carrying out TPM processes including daily, weekly, and monthly maintenance
  •  Maintaining high standards of cleanliness and organisation in line with 5S processes

  •  Supporting other production areas when required
  •  Attending NPI, team, and RCA meetings
  •  Ensuring production information remains accurate and up to date
  •  Promoting best practice across all areas of work
  •  Continuing personal development of technical and production skills
  •  Supporting continuous improvement initiatives

Essential Skills:

  •  Ability to develop processes from drawing to completed part
  •  Experience with Fixed Head machine tool setting and operation
  •  Ability to develop machining strategies and plan production processes
  •  Strong manual tool room and fitting skills
  •  Completed Apprenticeship
  •  Understanding of 5S and lean manufacturing principles
  •  First Aid Training

Training:

  •  Full training provided
  •  Multi-week structured shadowing process
