We are working with a market leading ALSP in securing an experienced Banking Lawyer for a leading global financial services organisation. The assignment is due to start ASAP, will run for 12 months, and could be based out of offices in London, Birmingham or Leeds, with three days per week in the office required.
The successful lawyer is likely to have upwards of 6 years' PQE in handling corporate lending or leveraged finance experience, particularly on mid-market deals and will take responsibility for running mid-market corporate lending transactions, working closely with corporate banking clients, internal stakeholders and external counsel throughout the lifecycle of a deal. It is essential that the successful individual is comfortable independently managing loan processes and leading on both the commercial and legal aspects of lending documentation.
The role will involve advising on transaction structuring and early-stage documentation, through to negotiating key finance documents, including LMA facility agreements and intercreditor agreements. Transactions can include bilateral and multi-banked facilities, refinancings, acquisition finance, MBOs and other corporate lending arrangements.
Of particular interest are lawyers with strong corporate lending experience and exposure to mid-market leveraged loans. Previous experience leading multiple loan processes and confidently managing negotiations with external lender counsel will be important.
Candidates are likely to be able to demonstrate:
- Qualification as a Solicitor in England & Wales or another commonwealth jurisdiction
- Upwards of 6 years' PQE with strong corporate lending and banking experience
- Experience advising on mid-market and leveraged lending transactions
- A good working knowledge of LMA documentation and the UK corporate lending market
- The ability to independently lead the documentation and execution process for loan transactions
- Confidence negotiating facility agreements, term sheets and other key finance documentation
- Strong commercial judgement and the ability to explain complex legal and financing issues to internal stakeholders
- Experience managing relationships with external counsel and coordinating transactions through to completion
- Excellent communication, negotiation and stakeholder management skills
