Vacancy Type: Full-time, Permanent Salary: £35,000 - £45,000 per annum Please note: internally, this role is titled Technical Representative About the role We're looking for a Vehicle Technical Advisor to support the delivery of the PMETS (Protected Mobility Engineering Technical Support) contract and provide expert vehicle support to the UK Ministry of Defence. ​ This is an ideal opportunity for a highly experienced Master Technician or senior diagnostic specialist who enjoys solving complex vehicle issues and working on some of the most technically demanding platforms in the UK. You'll travel to customer locations across mainland Britain, diagnosing mechanical, electrical and vehicle system issues, identifying root causes and developing practical solutions that minimise downtime and maximise vehicle availability. ​ Your expertise will be relied upon to solve challenging technical problems that cannot be resolved through routine maintenance activities. You'll produce clear technical reports, document findings and communicate recommendations to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, helping inform engineering decisions and future fleet improvements. ​ You’ll also contribute to improving vehicle reliability by analysing faults, producing technical reports and gathering feedback from operators and maintainers. This insight will help inform post-design services recommendations and engineering improvements across the fleet, giving you the opportunity to influence how these vehicles evolve and are supported in service. ​ When not responding to Authority-tasked activities, you’ll work with the wider PMETS team to support the maintenance of reference fleet vehicles and provide engineering support to ongoing programmes. This gives you hands-on involvement in Level 1–3 maintenance tasks while continuing to build your technical competence across protected mobility systems and subsystems. ​ What we’re looking for ​ We’re looking for someone with strong vehicle engineering knowledge and the ability to operate independently while representing NP Aerospace professionally in front of defence stakeholders. Ideally you’ll have: ​ * Master Technician status, equivalent advanced vehicle diagnostic qualification, or demonstrable experience operating at this level * Extensive experience diagnosing and repairing complex vehicle faults across mechanical, electrical and electronic systems * Strong automotive, military vehicle, heavy vehicle or specialist vehicle engineering background * Proven ability to investigate root causes and resolve challenging technical issues independently * Excellent technical report writing and documentation skills * Strong verbal communication skills with the ability to explain technical findings clearly to customers and stakeholders * Experience interpreting technical manuals, engineering documentation and diagnostic information * Full UK driving licence * Competence using Microsoft Office applications ​ Desirable​ * Experience maintaining Protected Mobility Platforms * REME Class 1 Vehicle Mechanic background or equivalent * Knowledge of Mastiff, Ridgback, Wolfhound, Foxhound, Jackal or Coyote platforms * Experience working with Defence Equipment & Support (DE&S) * Experience supporting military or defence customers * Category C driving licence ​Our team embraces modern technologies, including AI-assisted tools, to work smarter and deliver better results.
