Highway Engineer

An Established multi-disciplinary, working on major projects across the UK & Ireland is looking for a Senior Highway Engineer to join its Highways & Transportation team in North Leeds. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced engineer looking to play a key role in the delivery of major UK and Irish transport infrastructure projects, while progressing their technical and leadership career within a growing team. The role would suit a motivated professional with over 3 years' post-graduate experience, strong design capability, and a desire to work on complex, high-profile transportation schemes focusing on multi-million pound design and build schemes. The Role You will work on projects such as: Highways and major roads Bridges and structures Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) Active travel (cycleways and pedestrian schemes) Public transport infrastructureProjects span the full asset lifecycle, from early feasibility and modelling through detailed design, construction support, and long-term asset management. Senior Highway Engineer Responsibilities Lead and contribute to the design of highways and transportation schemes Prepare detailed design drawings, specifications and technical reports Ensure compliance with UK and Irish design standards Support project delivery to programme and budget Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and external stakeholders Mentor junior engineers and contribute to technical excellenceSenior Highway Engineer Essential Requirements Honours degree in Civil Engineering (or equivalent) Minimum 3 years' experience in transportation/highways design Chartered Engineer status (or working towards chartership) Strong knowledge of relevant standards (e.g. DMRB, Manual for Streets, LTN 1/20, MCHW) Experience preparing works contract documentation and specifications Excellent written and verbal communication skills High attention to detail and commitment to quality Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced consultancy environment Strong problem-solving skills and professional judgement Fluent or highly proficient in written and spoken EnglishSenior Highway Engineer Desirable Experience 3D road design software such as Civil 3D, OpenRoads or MX Familiarity with TII and NTA project management guidelines Experience on large-scale public infrastructure or transport programmeINDHTF Calibre Search promote equality in the workplace and we welcome applications from all suitably skilled or qualified candidates regardless of their sex, race, disability, religion/beliefs, sexual orientation or age.
