A senior opportunity within a growing logistics operation

Phoenix Talent Network is working on behalf of a growing logistics business to appoint an experienced Night Operations Manager.

This is an opportunity for a hands-on operational leader who can take ownership of a busy night operation, lead people effectively and ensure that safety, productivity and service standards are consistently maintained.

The successful candidate will play a key role in coordinating operational activity across transport, yard, and warehouse functions, and will be responsible for maintaining an efficient, well-controlled working environment.

The Role

Your responsibilities will include:

• Leading and developing night-shift operational teams.
• Coordinating vehicle movements, yard activity and loading operations.
• Managing resource allocation across people, equipment and operational areas.
• Supporting inbound, outbound and cross-dock activity.
• Maintaining high standards of health and safety, compliance and operational discipline.
• Monitoring productivity, KPIs and service performance.
• Identifying operational issues and implementing practical improvements.
• Working collaboratively with daytime management and wider business functions.
• Making effective decisions in a fast-paced environment with a high level of autonomy.

Relevant Experience

We are particularly interested in candidates with experience in one or more of the following environments:

1. Transport and logistics operations.
2. Night-time depot or hub operations.
3. Cross-dock and trunking environments.
4. Yard management and HGV-heavy operations.
5. Large-scale warehouse operations involving significant MHE and vehicle movements.

You should have:

• Proven operational leadership experience.
• Strong knowledge of health and safety and compliance.
• Experience managing people, performance and resources.
• The ability to prioritise and make decisions under pressure.
• A practical, visible and hands-on leadership style.
• A continuous improvement mindset and the confidence to take ownership.

Package & Working Pattern

• Salary: up to £55,000
• Working pattern: Monday–Friday, 45 hours per week.
• Location: West Midlands.
• Environment: High-volume night logistics operation.
