Global Category Manager - Content Creation

This role sits at the intersection of two disciplines, procurement and content creation, in a job that requires significant levels of influencing at different levels. We are Cambridge University Press & Assessment, a world-leading academic publisher and assessment organisation and a proud part of the University of Cambridge., As our Global Category Manager - Content Creation, you will lead the development and delivery of a global category strategy that drives value, innovation, and operational excellence across a significant area of organisational spend. Working closely with senior stakeholders across the business, you'll ensure procurement strategies align with wider business goals while delivering measurable commercial benefits. You'll build and manage strategic supplier relationships that maximise performance, encourage innovation, and minimise risk. Acting as a trusted advisor and subject matter expert, you'll use market insight and commercial expertise to influence decision‑making, identify opportunities, and support the organisation’s evolving content creation needs. Key areas of responsibility include:
- Developing and delivering the global Content Creation category strategy
- Leading strategic sourcing and procurement initiatives from concept to contract
- Building strong relationships with stakeholders and strategic suppliers globally
- Identifying and delivering cost savings, value creation, and performance improvements
- Providing market intelligence and insight on trends, technologies, and emerging risks
- Supporting transformation and continuous improvement through innovation, automation, and AI-enabled solutions
This is a highly visible role offering the opportunity to influence senior leaders, shape long-term procurement strategy, and make a significant impact on financial performance, operational resilience, and future ways of working across a global organisation. This position has been classified as a hybrid role, requiring the selected candidate to typically spend 40-60% of their time collaborating and connecting face-to-face at their dedicated location. You will be an experienced procurement professional with a strong track record in Content Creation procurement, and a deep understanding of the suppliers, technologies, and market dynamics that shape this evolving category. You will be confident developing category strategies that balance commercial value, innovation, quality, and risk while supporting wider business objectives. You will bring strong commercial, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills, with experience leading complex sourcing activities and managing strategic supplier relationships. Using your market insight and analytical skills, you'll identify opportunities to improve performance, drive efficiencies, and support the adoption of new technologies and ways of working across the Content Creation landscape.
Desirable criteria
- CIPS qualification (or working towards).
- Experience supporting transformation, automation, AI, or digital innovation within a Content Creation environment.
- Experience working across global markets and managing international supplier relationships. Final stage interview: in-person at our offices in Cambridge.
