Mental Health Practitioner – Young Carers Service
About the role
We’re currently recruiting full-time or part-time (min. 21 hrs. p.w.) Mental Health Practitioner in our Young Carers Service to work directly with young people in Croydon. For all posts you need to have a mental health qualification (or other relevant qualification i.e. Youth Work, Social Work) and at least two years’ experience of working with young people. We are also looking for people with an open and flexible attitude; excellent engagement skills and a passion for working with children and young people around mental health. It would be desirable if you have experience working with young carers, young adult carers or families with caring responsibilities.

Responsibilities include offering detailed carers assessments and a flexible range of short-term mental health interventions to children and young people aged 5-25 including individual and group-based support; annual reviews, workshops, mental health/wellbeing/carer themed activities, respite activities for young carers. The posts have scope and opportunity for developing new initiatives and ways of working to support young people’s mental health and wellbeing across South London.
All posts are fully office based and will require flexible working across service areas and interventions and will involve regular evening (2 evenings for full time) and weekend (Saturday) work to meet the needs of young carers and young adult carers.
