Buyer – Peterborough – Long-Term Contract £43.00 per hour FCSA Umbrella (Inside IR35) £32.25 per hour PAYE Location: Peterborough (fully onsite) Contract: 12 months initially Hours: 37 hours per week We are currently recruiting for an experienced Category Buyer to join a leading engineering and manufacturing organisation based in Peterborough. This is an excellent opportunity to join a busy procurement team where you will play a key role in developing category strategies, managing supplier relationships, and delivering commercial value across the supply chain. Key Responsibilities: Develop, manage, and execute category strategies, policies, agreements, and sourcing activities • Identify opportunities for cost reduction, inventory optimisation, and quality improvement • Support supplier negotiations and commercial discussions • Manage supplier relationships and performance, ensuring delivery and service expectations are met • Conduct risk assessments and support sound business decision-making • Act as the key liaison between suppliers and internal stakeholders • Analyse procurement and supplier data to support strategic decisions • Ensure compliance with procurement policies, procedures, and contractual requirementsSkills & Experience Required: Previous experience as a Category Buyer, Strategic Buyer, Commodity Buyer, Procurement Specialist, or similar procurement role • Strong supplier relationship management experience • Good commercial awareness and negotiation skills • Experience analysing data and identifying improvement opportunities • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills • Understanding of procurement processes and sourcing activitiesDesirable: Experience within manufacturing or engineering environments • Experience supporting global suppliers and cross-functional teams • Relevant procurement qualifications or business-related degreeLocation: Peterborough (fully onsite) Contract: 12 months initially Hours: 37 hours per week • Monday–Thursday: 8:00am–4:00pm • Friday: 8:00am–1:00pm Rates: • £43.00 per hour FCSA Umbrella (Inside IR35) • £32.25 per hour PAYE Start Date: ASAP This is a fantastic opportunity for a procurement professional looking to take ownership of supplier relationships, category strategies, and commercial activities within a highly respected manufacturing organisation
