Mechanical Design Engineer

TXM Recruit is recruiting on behalf of our client for a Graduate / Junior Mechanical Design Engineer to join their Engineering team in Saffron Walden.

This is an excellent opportunity for an aspiring Mechanical Design Engineer looking to develop their career within an established engineering environment.

Working closely with the Principal Mechanical Design Engineer and wider engineering team, you will gain hands-on experience in the design and development of mechanical products, components and systems.

Our client is looking for someone with a foundation in mechanical engineering and some knowledge or exposure to CATIA. Previous professional experience is not essential, as the team is willing to provide training and development for someone who demonstrates the right attitude, enthusiasm and potential.

This role would suit a recent graduate or junior engineer who is keen to build their technical skills, learn from experienced engineers and develop into a capable Mechanical Design Engineer.

The Role
As a Graduate / Junior Mechanical Design Engineer, you will be responsible for:

Supporting the design and development of mechanical components, products and systems using 3D CAD software, ideally CATIA.
Developing your skills in 3D modelling, assemblies and engineering drawings.
Assisting with the production of manufacturing drawings, Bills of Materials (BOMs) and technical documentation.
Supporting the improvement and development of existing products.
Working alongside experienced engineers to understand design requirements and engineering principles.
Assisting with prototype development, testing and validation activities.
Supporting technical investigations, problem-solving and design improvements.
Working collaboratively with electrical engineering, production and quality teams.
Learning and applying engineering standards, design processes and quality requirements.
Taking an active role in your own technical development and building your understanding of the company's products and engineering processes.What We're Looking For
Our client is particularly interested in individuals who can demonstrate:

A degree, HNC, HND or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design or a related engineering discipline.
Some knowledge or exposure to CATIA or other 3D CAD packages.
An understanding of mechanical engineering principles and design fundamentals.
The ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical information.
An interest in mechanical design, product development and manufacturing.
Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team.
A genuine willingness to learn, develop and take responsibility for their own progression.Previous experience in a mechanical design environment would be beneficial but isn't essential. Our client is looking for someone with a positive attitude, strong motivation and a genuine willingness to learn and develop.
