Senior Laboratory Chemist - Hazardous Waste Location: Birmingham, UK Salary: circa. £36,000pa (DOE) Working Hours: Monday to Friday - 7:30am - 4:30pm Are you an experienced Laboratory Chemist with a background in the hazardous waste industry? Are you looking for an exciting new opportunity with an established and growing waste management company based in Birmingham? This role could be an excellent fit for you! My client is seeking a Senior Laboratory Chemist to join their team in Birmingham, taking a leading role in the analysis and classification of hazardous and non-hazardous waste streams, providing technical expertise to operational teams, and supporting laboratory quality, safety, and compliance standards. Provide technical guidance on analytical methods, waste acceptance, chemical compatibility, and complex waste streams. Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental, and quality standards through risk assessment and continuous improvement activities. Communicate analytical findings and recommendations to customers and internal stakeholders. Support laboratory operations through equipment maintenance, quality control, and the training of junior staff.Requirements: Degree, HND/HNC, or equivalent experience in Chemistry, Analytical Science, Environmental Science, or a related field. Strong laboratory experience in chemistry, environmental testing, waste management, or a similar industry. Knowledge of analytical techniques, laboratory instrumentation, and wet chemistry methods. Understanding of waste classification, environmental legislation, and health & safety requirements (WM3 and ADR knowledge desirable). Ability to interpret analytical data, communicate technical findings, and support safe, efficient laboratory operations. Must be based in the UK and have full settled status or citizenship.
