Quantity Surveyor

Ashbys Consulting are working with one of the UK's leading developers of premium, city-centre homes, who are looking to appoint a Quantity Surveyor to work on their flagship high-rise development in the heart of Birmingham.The company produce landscape-defining developments across the country, and have recently launched their Midlands division which will be growing over several years as they deliver a variety of traditionally built and high-rise schemes across the region.As a Quantity Surveyor you will be working alongside an established team to commercially manage several subcontract packages within a 400+unit development spread over multiple blocks. You will need a proven track record of working in residential construction, ideally with evident high-rise experience in your portfolio. The existing team operate a collaborative and supportive environment, and the Commercial Director has a sensible approach to their delivery.Specific duties include:Review internal and external specification and assess cost impactsProcure subcontract packages to specification and budgetNegotiate best value whilst maintaining expected levels of quality and workmanshipWork with the Technical Department to value engineer developments and reduce build costWork with the Production Department during procurement and throughout the build process to ensure smooth construction and swift conflict resolutionSettlement of final accountsForecast and mitigate cost riskGenerate accurate payments in a timely manner in accordance with authorisation levels and commercial proceduresReport on cost movements and budgets as requiredThis is an opportunity to work with a market-leader in their field, on an iconic, highly visible city-centre development.
