BSL Secondary school in Uxbridge

Location: Uxbridge, West London Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 4:00pm Contract: Term-time / Full-time (specify if fixed-term or permanent) Start Date: ASAP Job Description We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic British Sign Language (BSL) Support Assistant to join a welcoming and inclusive SEND secondary school in Uxbridge. You will support students with hearing impairments and additional special educational needs, helping them to access learning, communicate effectively, and thrive both academically and socially. Key Responsibilities * Provide 1:1 and small group support using BSL communication * Assist students in accessing the curriculum in line with EHCP targets * Work closely with teachers, SENCO, and support staff * Promote inclusion, independence, and positive behaviour * Support students’ emotional, social, and communication needs throughout the school day Requirements * Good proficiency in British Sign Language (BSL) (minimum Level 2 preferred, Level 3 desirable) * Experience working with SEND or hearing-impaired students (school-based experience desirable) * Strong communication and interpersonal skills * A patient, caring, and adaptable approach * Enhanced DBS check required (or willingness to obtain one) What the School Offers * Supportive and inclusive SEND environment * Ongoing training and development opportunities * Dedicated SEN and specialist staff team * Opportunity to make a meaningful impact on students’ lives How to Apply If you are passionate about supporting young people with additional needs and confident using BSL, we would love to hear from you
