A specialist school in Newbury is looking for a new Mental Health Assistant to join their team on a full-time basis as soon as possible. The school caters to students with a range of social, emotional and mental health needs, such as children with attachment disorders, trauma, moderate learning difficulties and anxiety disorders. As a Mental Health Assistant within a school, you will be responsible for supporting the students throughout the day on a 1:1 and small group basis. You will follow therapeutic practices and behaviour management to ensure that a calm and safe learning environment is maintained. You will also provide general classroom assistance to the class teacher, and liaise with on- site specialists to ensure that each student receives the best quality care and education. This is a great opportunity for a graduate or aspiring psychologist to gain hands-on experience with children who face difficulties in accessing education sue to complex and mental health needs.
