Our client is a specialist independent school supporting young people aged 11-16 with a range of additional needs, including Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), communication difficulties, and cognition and learning challenges.

The Role
We are seeking a passionate, adaptable, and committed SEN Teacher to join a dedicated specialist team in Burnley. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced SEN practitioner who is confident delivering a broad and differentiated curriculum to KS3 and KS4 pupils with a wide range of additional needs.
The successful candidate will play a key role in creating engaging learning experiences that support academic progress alongside social, emotional, and personal development.
Key Responsibilities
Plan and deliver creative, engaging, and differentiated lessons across core and foundation subjects for KS3 and KS4 pupils
Adapt teaching strategies to meet a range of SEN needs and learning abilities
Develop and implement personalised learning plans and EHCP targets
Create a safe, structured, and inclusive classroom environment that promotes positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing
Monitor, assess, and report on pupil progress and achievement
Work collaboratively with Teaching Assistants, SENCOs, therapists, and external professionals
Support pupils' communication, independence, confidence, and social development
Use positive behaviour strategies and trauma-informed approaches to support learning outcomes
The Ideal Candidate Will Have
QTS or QTLS (essential)
Experience working with KS3 and KS4 pupils with SEN in mainstream or specialist settings
Strong understanding of ASD, ADHD, SEMH, communication difficulties, and learning needs
The ability to differentiate effectively and deliver engaging lessons across a broad curriculum
Excellent classroom management and behaviour support skills
A calm, patient, and nurturing approach
A commitment to inclusive education and pupil-centred learning
An Enhanced DBS on the update service, or willingness to obtain one
