Consultant Geriatrician with Specialist Interest in Acute Frailty Care and Clinical Lecturer

The Department of Medicine for Older People wishes to appoint a Consultant Geriatrician with Specialist Interest in Acute Frailty Care.

Responsibilities include:

  • Work alongside other geriatricians to develop innovative 7‑day services for older people, both within hospitals and the community.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across sites to develop a seamless, equitable service.
  • Support acute frailty services and provide general geriatric ward cover at the Royal Liverpool and Broadgreen sites.
  • Engage in sessional work in the emergency areas to support acute frailty services.
  • Deliver comprehensive geriatric assessment (CGA) on general geriatric and re‑ablement wards, and lead the MDT based CGA care.
  • Provide sessional work on in‑patient wards (14‑28 beds, 2‑4 new admissions each day).
  • Participate in out‑patient work in the MDT geriatric outpatient department and develop rapid‑access frailty services as alternatives to admission.
  • Receive support from trainees, junior doctors, advanced nurse practitioners, and STR specialists on a sessional basis.

This role supports both inpatient and outpatient settings, focusing on the delivery and continuous improvement of acute frailty care.
