Full-Time Head of Year – Secondary School- B33, Birmingham
Start Date: September 2026
Contract Type: Full Time | Permanent
We are seeking an outstanding, committed, and inspirational Head of Year to join our thriving secondary school from September 2026. This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate educator and leader who is dedicated to supporting students academically, socially, and emotionally throughout their school journey.
The successful candidate will play a key role in leading and managing a year group, promoting high standards of behaviour, attendance, achievement, and wellbeing, while working closely with students, families, staff, and external agencies.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and manage a designated year group across Key Stage 3 or Key Stage 4
Monitor student progress, attendance, behaviour, and wellbeing accurately, raising concerns to designated individuals
Provide pastoral support and guidance to students
Build positive relationships with parents/carers and external agencies
Promote high expectations and a positive school culture
Support safeguarding and student welfare procedures
Work collaboratively with teaching and pastoral teams to raise achievement
The Ideal Candidate Will:
Have worked in a similar role and will have successful secondary school experience
Have strong pastoral leadership skills and excellent communication abilities
Be passionate about student development and inclusion
Demonstrate resilience, organisation, and the ability to motivate young people
Have experience managing behaviour and supporting student wellbeing
Be committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
