A welcoming and inclusive primary school in South London is seeking a dedicated SEMH Teaching Assistant to join their supportive team.
The school caters to pupils across EYFS, KS1, and KS2 and has a strong focus on inclusive education and emotional wellbeing. This role involves supporting pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, alongside additional needs such as Autism (ASC), ADHD, behavioural challenges, and emotional regulation difficulties.
You will be working closely with children who require consistent support to help them manage emotions, build positive relationships, engage with learning, and develop confidence and independence within the school environment.
Staff work collaboratively with the SENCO, Behaviour Support Teams, Educational Psychologists, and external professionals to provide a nurturing and structured approach for every child.

Role and Responsibilities
Provide 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with SEMH needs
Support children with emotional regulation, self-esteem, and confidence building
Help pupils develop positive social skills and relationships with peers and staff
Implement behaviour management strategies and support positive behaviour plans
Assist the class teacher in adapting lessons to meet individual needs and EHCP targets
Provide support during lessons, transitions, breaktimes, and less structured parts of the school day
Help create a calm, safe, and nurturing learning environment
Build strong, trusting relationships to encourage engagement and progress
Work closely with teachers, the SENCO, and external professionals
Monitor and record pupil progress, wellbeing, and behaviourCandidate Requirements
Previous experience supporting children with SEMH, behaviour needs, or additional SEN
Strong behaviour management skills with a calm, patient, and consistent approach
Resilient, empathetic, and emotionally intelligent personality
Confidence supporting children with challenging behaviour and emotional needs
Experience in a primary school setting is desirable
Team Teach training is advantageous but not essential
