Assistant Accountant

Assistant Accountant - Sheffield | Temporary to Permanent |Office based We are seeking a highly motivated and detail‑oriented Assistant Accountant to join this finance team based in Sheffield. This role is initially on a temporary basis with a view to becoming permanent. The role will offer career progression for someone to step up and manage a small finance team based in Sheffield. The successful candidate will work closely with the Finance Director to support day‑to‑day accounting operations. You will play a key role in maintaining accurate financial records, assisting with month‑end processes, and ensuring the smooth running of core finance activities. Key Responsibilities: Assisting with preparation of monthly management accounts Processing invoices, payments, and expense claims Maintaining accurate ledgers and supporting reconciliations Assisting with VAT returns and other statutory submissions Supporting budgeting and forecasting activities Liaising with internal teams and external stakeholders as required Providing general administrative and financial support to the wider teamSkills & Experience: Previous experience in an accounting or finance support role Strong numerical and analytical skills Excellent attention to detail and organisational ability Proficiency with accounting software and Microsoft Excel and Sage 40 hours a week, Monday to Friday, in the office.
