Are you an experienced Teaching Assistant looking to take the next step in your career? Do you have a passion for supporting children and young people ?
We are looking for a dedicated and experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join our supportive and inclusive secondary school. v This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is confident working with pupils with a range of additional needs and is ready to take on greater responsibility within the classroom.
The Role
As an HLTA you will work closely with teachers and the wider support team to provide high-quality learning and pastoral support to pupils. You will play an important role in helping pupils overcome barriers to learning, develop their confidence and achieve their full potential.
Your responsibilities will include:
Supporting pupils with a range of special educational needs and disabilities.
Delivering planned lessons and learning activities under the direction of teaching staff.
Providing targeted one-to-one and small-group support.
Adapting learning activities and resources to meet individual needs.
Supporting pupils with their academic, social, emotional and behavioural development.
Working closely with teachers, SENCOs and other professionals to implement support strategies.
Monitoring pupil progress and providing constructive feedback to teaching staff.
Promoting positive behaviour, independence and inclusion.
Taking responsibility for classroom activities when required.
Maintaining a safe, nurturing and stimulating learning environment.
About You
The successful candidate will ideally have:
Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant or similar role.
Experience supporting children or young people with SEND.
A strong understanding of inclusive teaching and learning practices.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
The confidence to lead learning activities and support classroom delivery.
A patient, calm and nurturing approach.
The ability to build positive relationships with pupils, staff and parents/carers.
Good organisational skills and the ability to work independently.
A genuine commitment to improving outcomes for children and young people.
HLTA status or an equivalent relevant qualification is desirable, although experienced candidates with strong SEN experience may also be considered.
