Assistant Quantity Surveyor

Assistant Quantity Surveyor Rate: £200-£250 per day Umbrella Contract: Initial 3-Month Contract A major highways maintenance programme is seeking an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to support a busy commercial team delivering planned and reactive infrastructure works across the UK. This is an excellent opportunity to gain exposure to high-volume maintenance contracts while working alongside experienced Quantity Surveyors on live operational projects. This role would suit someone with strong commercial administration and subcontractor management experience who thrives in a fast-paced infrastructure environment and is confident managing cost reporting, applications, and contract support activities. Key Responsibilities ·Support Quantity Surveyors with day-to-day commercial management activities ·Agree subcontractor applications and support payment processes ·Prepare and submit client applications and billing information ·Identify and manage contract variations ·Support cost and value reconciliation processes on completed and live works ·Compile quotations for additional works and maintain commercial records ·Process invoices, maintain spreadsheets, and update cost trackers ·Produce monthly commercial reports for senior management ·Monitor project costs and provide cost/value feedback to operational teams ·Analyse tender allowances prior to subcontract award ·Liaise with clients to understand budgets and support delivery against year-end targets ·Assist in ensuring contractual entitlements are captured and realised ·Support the collection of data relating to variations and changes to works Requirements ·Previous experience in a Quantity Surveying or Assistant Quantity Surveying role ·Background within highways, infrastructure, utilities, civil engineering, or maintenance contracts ·Strong commercial awareness and cost reporting capability ·Experience working with subcontractors and client applications ·Confident using spreadsheets and commercial reporting tools ·Strong communication and organisational skills ·Able to work within strict contractual and commercial deadlines This is a strong opportunity to join a high-performing infrastructure maintenance team delivering essential works across major UK highways networks, with the potential for contract extension based on workload and performance.
