We are seeking a candidate with strong UK ground investigation and UK project experience who is confident supervising site works, managing investigation data, preparing reports and supporting technical project delivery.
This role would suit an ambitious geologist looking to take the next step in their career, with the opportunity to work across varied ground investigation projects throughout the UK.
The Role As Senior Geologist, the successful candidate will support the planning, supervision and delivery of ground investigation projects.
The role will involve a mix of site-based and office-based duties, including intrusive investigation supervision, soil and rock logging, laboratory scheduling, data processing, reporting and client liaison.
Key Responsibilities Assist with office-based duties and on-site ground investigation projects
Undertake Phase 1 desk studies
Liaise with clients, engineering supervisors and subcontractors
Set up and organise ground investigation works
Supervise intrusive ground investigations across a range of UK sites
Oversee investigation techniques including sonic, rotary, cable percussion and window sampling boreholes
Support trial pits, geophysics and other investigation techniques where required
Undertake soil and rock logging to current geotechnical standards
Prepare laboratory testing schedules
Process field and laboratory results
Prepare factual and technical reports
Maintain accurate site records and project documentation
Support safe, efficient and technically accurate project delivery
About You We are seeking a candidate with previous UK ground investigation site experience and a strong understanding of site investigation delivery.
The successful candidate should be confident supervising intrusive investigations, logging samples, interpreting site data and preparing accurate technical reports.

Essential Requirements Previous UK ground investigation site experience
Proven UK project experience is required
Candidates must be eligible to work in the UK
Degree in Geology, Earth Science, Geography, Civil Engineering, Environmental Geoscience or a related discipline
Ability to log samples to BS 5930+A2 technical standards
Good knowledge of the principal soil and rock strata encountered in the UK
Ability to interpret geological maps and published geological data
Basic understanding of water, ground and soil gas monitoring techniques
Excellent report-writing skills
Strong attention to detail and accuracy
Full UK driving licence
Desirable Experience Experience supervising multiple drilling techniques
Experience preparing Phase 1 desk studies
Experience with laboratory scheduling and data processing
Knowledge of geotechnical and geo-environmental investigation methods
Professional membership or working towards Chartership
Experience supporting junior site staff or graduates
