About the role

Description Our Plant and Fleet business provides a key service to the wider Carey Group, owning and servicing the plant and fleet used across our construction projects - UK wide.   We're looking for a commercially minded Plant Hire Financial Accountant to partner with our operational teams, bringing clarity and insight through high-quality reporting that supports confident decision-making.   What You Will Be Doing: Own the end-to-end month-end management accounts process, including preparation of the reporting pack for Group Senior Leadership, with clear commentary and insight.  Build strong working relationships with Plant and Fleet operational teams, acting as their key Finance contact.  Lead quarterly reforecasts and the annual budget process with Operational teams, in line with Group timetables.  Oversee cashflow forecasting, helping to maintain appropriate working capital.  Review capex/opex business cases to ensure proposals deliver value and align to budgets and strategy.  Own the year-end audit process for the company, supporting statutory accounts preparation and liaising with external auditors and tax advisers.  Review and improve finance processes and controls, ensuring they remain robust and fit for purpose.  Support ad-hoc analysis and projects as required.  What You Will Bring: Qualified accountant (preferably ACA or equivalent), ideally with an audit background (this role would suit a newly qualified accountant).  Up-to-date technical knowledge of UK GAAP and strong understanding of financial control requirements.  Proven experience delivering month-end and year-end reporting to strict deadlines.  Strong Excel capability (VLOOKUP and pivot tables essential) and solid MS Office skills.  Methodical, well organised and detail focused, with the ability to prioritise and deliver.  Confident communicator who can partner effectively with operational stakeholders and handle sensitive information with discretion.  Proactive, improvement-minded self-starter with strong problem-solving skills.  Logistics, Manufacturing industry experience and/or familiarity with COINS ERP would be advantageous Why Join Us: You’ll be joining a business that values Care, Humility, Passion and Authenticity, where finance plays a key role in supporting operational performance.
