About the role

Purpose of the Role To support pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN) in accessing learning, developing independence, and achieving their individual educational goals. Key Responsibilities * Provide 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with SEN. * Assist in implementing Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) and Individual Education Plans (IEPs). * Support pupils with autism, ADHD, learning difficulties, speech and language needs, and social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs. * Adapt learning materials and activities to meet individual needs. * Encourage pupil engagement, participation, and independence. * Monitor and record pupil progress and report observations to teachers and SENCO. * Promote positive behaviour and emotional well-being. * Support pupils during classroom activities, transitions, breaktimes, and educational visits. * Assist with personal care and medical needs where required. * Help maintain a safe, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment. * Work collaboratively with teachers, parents/carers, and external professionals. * Attend staff meetings, training, and pupil review meetings as required. * Maintain confidentiality and comply with safeguarding policies. * Support the school's commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusion. Person Specification Essential * Experience working with children or young people. * Understanding of Special Educational Needs and inclusive education. * Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. * Patient, empathetic, and supportive approach. * Ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff. * Good literacy, numeracy, and IT skills. * Ability to work independently and as part of a team. * Commitment to safeguarding and promoting child welfare. * Enhanced DBS clearance or willingness to obtain one. Desirable * Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification. * Previous experience in a SEN school or mainstream SEN setting. * Knowledge of EHCP processes and SEN interventions. * Training in Makaton, PECS, Team Teach, or equivalent SEN-related programmes. * First Aid and Safeguarding training
