PMLD Teaching Assistant - Greenwich Daily Rate: £95-£115 Start: ASAP | Full-Time | Long-Term We are seeking a compassionate and resilient PMLD Teaching Assistant to join a specialist SEND school in Greenwich, supporting pupils with Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD) across primary or secondary phases. This is a rewarding opportunity to play a key role in ensuring learners with complex needs can access education in a safe, engaging and inclusive environment. You will be working closely with experienced teachers and therapists to deliver highly individualised support - promoting communication, independence, sensory engagement and wellbeing throughout the school day. Responsibilities Provide personalised 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with PMLD and complex medical or physical needs Assist with the facilitation of sensory-based learning and therapy-led activities Support with personal care, feeding, moving & handling (full training provided) Use communication tools such as PECs, Eye Gaze, and symbol-based systems where required Help to maintain a calm, positive environment that promotes pupil engagement and emotional regulation Work collaboratively with teaching staff, therapists, and medical teams to deliver holistic support Requirements Experience supporting pupils with complex needs (PMLD, SLD, physical disabilities or medical needs) Confident supporting personal care and mobility needs A patient, nurturing approach with strong resilience Willingness to learn specialist communication and sensory techniques A genuine passion for inclusive education and improving outcomes for vulnerable pupils This role would suit someone with a background in SEND schools, care settings, or therapy support - or a driven individual looking to continue their career in complex needs education.
