About the role
We are seeking a committed and experienced Deputy Manager to support the leadership of a Children’s Residential Home in Doncaster.
Working alongside the Registered Manager, you will play a pivotal role in the day-to-day management of the home. In the absence of the Registered Manager, you will take full operational responsibility for the home and the care of the children. This is an opportunity to help lead a service that provides stability, high-quality care and positive outcomes for children with complex emotional and behavioural needs.
The starting salary for this role is £39,890 and you would work 148 hours across a 4-week rota (37 hours per week). The rota will include working 2 weekends in 4 and shift patterns will include working shifts of 7am-3pm & 2pm-10pm, and sleep in shifts. In the absence of the manager, the deputy will take up the hours of the manager, which would be 8am-4pm.
Duties of the role:
Support the effective management of the home’s budget and resources
Develop and maintain positive relationships with children, families, professionals and the wider community
Ensure robust assessment and admission processes for all children
Lead and monitor safeguarding practice across the home
Organise staff rotas to always ensure appropriate cover
Develop and implement high-quality, individualised care plans
Monitor and evaluate care standards, conducting audits and driving continuous improvement
Supervise, mentor and appraise staff, identifying training and development needs
Ensure compliance within the Ofsted inspection framework
Recruit, induct and develop new team members
Participate in sleep-in duties where requiredWhat We’re Looking For
Recent supervisory or management experience within a residential children’s setting
Experience supporting children with challenging emotional and behavioural needs
Up-to-date knowledge of Ofsted Regulations and Quality Standards
Ability to work flexibly, including beyond normal hours in times of crisis
Strong leadership, organisational and communication skills
Level 3 QCF Children & Young People (or equivalent)
